It's Our 3rd Birthday! Let's get this party started!

Woohoo! We're three years old today.  I can hardly believe it!  I look back on the last three years and remember all the amazing teachers and teaching assistants  I've worked with & I'm so grateful to them for all their hard work, dedication, loyalty, blogging, humour, "stick-to-it"edness (yes, I made that a word)...I absolutely love my job!

So to celebrate, our fabulous friends at Lloyds & Flight Centre are giving away a few great prizes to readers who post comments here.  Just leave a comment telling us who you are, a bit about yourself, and of course Happy Birthday, and we'll go through the entries tomorrow & draw the winners from a Canada Hat.

The prizes are:
  • Travel Mugs from our friends Tony & Michael of Lloyd's TSB in Vancouver. These are the dedicated banking folks that help our teachers & teaching assistants to open up UK bank accounts while still abroad.
  • $75 off your next flight from Laura Buchan of Flight Centre here in the Westshore of Vancouver Island.  I book all my flights with Laura & she never fails to amaze me!
  • Carry-on Luggage from Laura of Flight Centre
  • My ebook, Guide to Teaching in London: A Survival Guide for Canadians If you're still in the research stage and want to know what it's really like to teach in London, this is the book for you.
  • Random Canadiana that I've purchased over the past year in preparation for this day.  And I really do mean random...
So what are you waiting for?  Leave your comments below, keep coming back throughout the day to read other comments & be sure to drop by tomorrow to see if you've won anything. I'll announce the winners here & ask them all to send me their mailing addresses (to my email, not here on the blog please).

Enjoy the part-ay people!  I'll be here all day, replying to your comments, participating in discussions and drinking champagne (not yet, it is only 7am in British Columbia after all).

  9. Happy Birthday Classroom Canada!! Sounds like a great organization, and I can't wait to hopefully become a part of it one day! This year I am going to be teaching at a British International School in Moscow. A great step in learning the British National Curriculum, and gaining some full-time teaching experience.... as well as travelling Europe, and the to London, of course! I will be in London a few times to renew my Visa and catch up with some international friends!

Congratulations again on your first 3 years, and good luck on the next 3 and more!!

  10. How awesome is this? It's only 9:50am and I already feel like it's a party over here! Thanks to everyone for your comments, kind words & wishes. Do I have the best job in the whole world? Yes, yes I do. :-)

Cindy I'd love to hear more about your adventure to Moscow. We have teachers in London now who worked first in China, Bahamas, Japan and Korea, and we have others who will be joining us soon currently in Honduras, China and Korea again. Love the international teach & travel experience.

Moscow's a first for us though so please do keep us in the loop on what it's really like. If you blog, please let me know so I can follow you.

And for those Canadian teachers working here in Canada, thanks so much for your support! Even though you're not teaching in London you still spread the word to great teachers just like you and we're all about friends of friends coming our way. That's the way we like it!

Enjoy your summer everyone! Ya'all deserve a great big fat holiday.

    Keep those comments coming!

  15. This is so fun! I just did an interview with a Toronto teacher who has been working for four years there & it was such a fabulous conversation. Loved it!

And love all your comments here.

Lisa, I still remember the first day that I met you at that school many years ago - you were late & I was taking the attendance of your students when you came in & spoke with a Canadian accent. I'm proud to say that you introduced me to Classroom & really, were the impetus for me to start Classroom Canada. It's all thanks to you!

And Eeky, can I make fun of your spelling mistakes or just blame it on the Scotsman in you? ;-) You know I love your work with key & will continue to recommend that my teachers speak with you whenever they have questions about their paycheques! Although, you still need to slow down in your speech as your accent is still very strong for us Canucks.

Cheryl, how goes the summer for you? Are you still travelling in Central America? Lucky duck!

  17. Kaari, I love your enthusiasm and am not surprised in the slightest that you already have a long term position at an amazing school. That energy you give out is exactly what our schools love - enthusiasm, a positive attitude, laughter & a "get on with it!" spirit goes far in London. Well done! Keep up the great work. :-)
